Dan’s Deli
Barnet Market welcomes Dan’s Deli – Premium store cupboard ingredients to the market
Est. 2020 and Barnet-Based, Dan’s Deli is a Small business who opened its doors in Barnet back in 2020. They are built on one very simple belief: the best meals always start with the best ingredients. From day one, the have focused on curating premium store cupboard staples — the kind of jars and bottles you reach for when you want to turn simple into special.
They specialise in flavoured oils, vibrant pestos, rich cooking pastes, and artisanal pastas, all made or sourced with care and intention.
In 2025,theye launched their proudest creation yet:
a small batch, fermented chilli sauce made with fiery Scotch bonnet chillies.
Fermented slowly for maximum depth and balance, this isn’t just another chilli sauce — it’s bold, bright, and beautifully complex. A natural extension of their love for layered flavour and slow-crafted ingredients.
At Dan’s Deli, everything they do is about flavour with purpose.
Small batch. Big impact. Straight from Barnet

The Bone Family Fruiterers.
Barnet Market would no longer exist if it were not for the resilience of the Bone family. They seem to have always been here, setting up the very first fruit and vegetable stall in the corner of the old cattle market in 1959 and as a family they have been the backbone of Barnet Market ever since, always there to provide the public with high quality produce. Today, Tyler Bone runs the Bone family stall and organisers the market stalls with Andy, ensuring that high quality is at the forefront of all the stalls at the market today. So let us allow Tyler himself to introduce himself and his stall.

“My name is Tyler Bone and I’m the third generation of Green grocers in Barnet Market. My grandfather was the first general store holder in the market after it was changed from a cattle market to a general market in 1959.My grandfather was the first general store holder in the market after it was changed from a cattle market to a general market in 1959.
My father took over from him at the age of 21 and you can still find him on my stall today at THE tender young age of 73.

Barnet Market has been a way of life for me and not just a job as I’ve been here all my life. I know the people that I serve week in week out and have done since I was a young boy.
My aim for Barnet Market is not to beat the supermarkets on price but to beat them on variety quality and atmosphere. in order to do that we have an extremely long day at Barnet Market to ensure that all my effort has gone into the upmost quality and variety of fruit, vegetables, salads and exotic fruits.

I’m 33 years old now and I have been on this market for as long as I can remember I don’t intend on going anywhere any time soon as I love Barnet Market. It is Home for me and all the people that I see every week? I love them all.
A typical Saturday for me will consist of an unfathomable amount of hours and preparation spent in order to be ready to serve early in the morning.

I set my alarm for 10:30 pm on a Friday night to ensure I get to Spittlefields market for midnight. After buying all my stock I make my way back to Barnet and start setting my stall up which typically takes around four hours to complete to my satisfaction, after all, the stall has to reflect the quality we have on offer.

There’s an old saying that I have alwats lived by: “You’ll never work a day in your life if you love your job.” I thoroughly enjoy my job, so it’s an easy one for me.
Be sure that come rain or shine I will be there trading in Barnet Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.”
“Welcome to Barnet Market!”
Greengrocer’s Choice.
Barnet Market is immensely proud of its history, it’s variety and its quality and here we feature Greengrocers choice. A high quality fruit and vegetable stall with produce that is unbeatable for freshness, taste and value for money.
Here’s a little potted history as provided by the owner himself.

“My name is Andy Gardiner and I started work at Barnet market at the tender age of 14 working for D A Booths as a Saturday job on the fruit stalls unloading the lorries and helping pack out the fresh produce.
At the age of 16 when I left school I started full time work for Booths. DuringI this time I learnt about buying and selling fresh produce, going to Covent Garden market and also Spitalfields.
Now fast forward 10 years and I had started my own stalls both in North Finchley and by taking over the Booth stalls at Barnet market.
Today, 36 years on I am still in Barnet market and have seen a great many changes to the market, both in its location and also the different types of stalls and their produce.
Trends change and as they have changed, so we introduced our on line business to our customers. This has proven very popular and went into overdrive during the pandemic.
I am very proud of the way we managed to keep serving the Barnet community during that very difficult time for us all, delivering to everybody no matter what size the order was or if it was a pound or a hundred pounds! We were there for you.
Our ethos in these current difficult times is to keep providing the best quality produce at a competitive price.
On a personal note I would like to thank the people of Barnet for all their support over the years.
My wife and 3 sons have always helped on the stalls and you can see them helping on Saturdays.
Always remember fresh is best.”

Big Wheel Cheese.
Today we highlight a really popular stall at Barnet Market, Big Wheel Cheese who for this saturday have a really special treat on offer for you. Raedwald is a seasonal cheese produced from January to March at Fen Farm Dairy in Bungay, Suffolk. It is an oozing, soft cheese with earthy, smoky flavours imparted by its washed rind.
Big wheel cheese is known for its vast and diverse selection of artisanal cheeses, including:
British Farmhouse Cheeses: They offer a wide range of traditional British cheeses, such as Stilton, Cheddar, Lancashire, and Wensleydale.
Artisanal Cheeses: They source unique, small-batch cheeses from independent dairy farmers and cheesemakers across the UK and Europe.
Raw Milk Cheeses: big wheel cheese is a strong advocate for raw milk cheeses, which are made from unpasteurized milk.

Mollica Bakes.
Today we focus on our sourdough experts. First of all, here is Roberto’s introduction.
“Greetings everyone, my name is Roberto and I am the heart and hands behind Mollica Bakes, where every sourdough, pastry, and sweet treats are all handmade with passion and a healthy sprinkling of nostalgia, lovingly baked in my ovens at home.”
Thanks Roberto!

Mollica Bakes has an established stall at Barnet Market, which is in the bandstand area, by Waitrose in the Spires. They are usually there on both Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be there from 7am until they are completely sold out.
So this is a stall that is well worth taking some time to visit at the market but come early to avoid disappointment and believe me, the sourdough bread and cookies are truly wonderful!

Many customers will be delighted to hear that Mollica Bakes is a truly local independent trader and is proud to say that all of his loaves are made using water, organic flours, seeds and proper sea salt.

On a typical day Mollia Bakes have a very good, diverse selection of different sourdough loaves, as well as focaccia, cinnamon rolls and those delicious cookiesm which are to die for.

I would personally recommend everyone tries their new line of salted chocolate rye cookies, made with dark chocolate, rye flour and a sprinkle of Maldon sea salt. Wonderful
