Barnet Market photographs from the past.

The history of Barnet market in photographs.

There has been a market here in Barnet for centuries and it moved around the High Street several times before settling as a cattle market Just behind Dory’s Cafe in St Albans road.

In the 1950’s The Bone family requested setting up a small fruit and Veg stall and were granted permission by the owners. This was the very beginning of the general market that sprung up as the cattle market began to fade.

To this day, a member of the Bone family has been present, running their fruit and veg stall through all weather and all adversity.

This collection of photographs highlights the market from the days as a cattle market right up to the present day.
